Innovative Features
INNOVATIVE FEATURES THAT PROVIDE GREATER DURABILITY, RELIABILITY, AND CONVENIENCE
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT)
Outboards like the DF300, DF250, and DF175 incorporate Suzuki’s advanced Variable Valve Timing (VVT). VVT is used to alter intake timing with the camshaft to optimize camshaft timing for low to mid-range operation. Combined with the outboard’s aggressive cam profile VVT delivers greater low to mid-range torque for powerful acceleration.
OFFSET DRIVESHAFT
Suzuki pioneered the use of the offset driveshaft with the original DF90. Effective at reducing the size of the outboard it also
moves the outboard’s center of gravity forward for better weight distribution. Found on all models from the New Generation
DF60A and greater, it also provides improvements in power performance, balance, and vibration reduction.
MULTI POINT SEQUENTIAL ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION
Suzuki also pioneered the use of Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection in four-stroke outboards with the introduction of the award winning DF70 and DF60. Found on all models from the DF40 and up, the system utilizes an ECM (Engine Control Module) that constantly monitors crucial data in real time, from a comprehensive network of critically placed sensors. Using this data the ECM instantly calculates the optimum amount of fuel to be injected at high pressure into the cylinders by the Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection system. The system delivers lower fuel consumption, reduced exhaust emissions, smoother starts, crisper acceleration, smoother performance, and maximum efficiency.
SUZUKI’S ANTI CORROSION FINISH
On all 4-Stroke outboards, Suzuki uses its own, original Suzuki Anti-Corrosion Finish to guard the outboard against the harmful effects of corrosion. This special formula is applied directly to the outboard’s aluminium surface to provide maximum bonding of the finish to the alloy surface. Layered on top are an epoxy, primer undercoat, black metallic finish, and clear acrylic resin finish that together, form an effective treatment against corrosion.
- Acrylic Resin Black
- Metallic Basecoat
- Acrylic Resin Clear Topcoat
- Epoxy Primer
- Undercoat
- Suzuki Anti-Corrosion Finish
- Suzuki Aluminium Alloy
MULTI STAGE INDUCTION
Suzuki’s Multi-Stage Induction system is used to enhance engine performance and can be found on the DF250, DF225, DF175, and DF150 outboards. Each cylinder in this system is equipped with a set of short and long intake manifolds that are utilized in relation to engine speed. At lower rpm the longer pipes deliver an optimum volume of fresh air into the chamber, improving combustion and boosting low-end torque. At higher rpm, the valve on the shorter, direct intake pipe opens up letting air in the chamber directly boosting high-speed power output.
CONVENIENCES THAT MAKE OPERATING A PLEASURE
Suzuki builds in convenient features that add to the quality of your boating experience. Among those features are a tilt limit switch to prevent the motor from tilting past a preset limit, dual engine flush ports for easy flushing of the cooling system, and three-piece covers that offer easy access to the engine for routine maintenance.
EMISSION STANDARDS
EURO 1 Emissions Standards
(EU Directive 2003/44/EC) Label
This label represents conformity to EU emissions standards (exhaust gases and noise levels) set by the European Parliament and the Council. These standards for 4-stroke outboard motors are effective on January 1st, 2006.
CARB Three-Star Label
The three-star label identifies engines that meet the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) 2008 exhaust emission standards. CARB 2008 (three-star) represents 65% lower emissions than the EPA 2006 standards.
